Keith earned his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Iowa in 1998 and began his career in family medicine in Keokuk. Over twelve years, he noticed a pattern: patients consistently sought him out for support with mental health concerns. This growing passion led him to complete a twelve-month psychiatry fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, finishing in 2011.
After returning to Keokuk to practice both psychiatry and family medicine, Keith moved to Iowa City in 2013 to focus exclusively on psychiatric care. He now specializes in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD.
Keith’s approach centers on collaboration and shared decision-making. He believes effective medication management works best when it complements therapy, lifestyle changes, and other supports that matter to each individual. An active listener, he takes time to understand not just symptoms, but what brings meaning to his patients’ lives—their interests, values, and goals.
Outside of work, Keith enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and tending to a diverse collection of plants.
