Integrative Psychiatry Q & A

Integrative Psychiatry

We strive to support your growth beyond the resolution of symptoms to guide your journey of true transformation and optimize your health and well-being. Our integrative or whole brain-body approach to treatment provides personalized solutions to address the underlying root causes such as hormones, medical issues, food sensitivities, or other factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Our approach aims to reduce the trial-and-error approach common in Western medicine by obtaining a more in-depth understanding of all the factors that impact your health concerns.

We understand that patients have the best outcome when they receive psychiatric and psychological therapy, and we will work closely with your therapist to ensure that you benefit from the synergy of these approaches. Our comprehensive and collaborative treatment model may include individual in-depth psychotherapy to release stuck pain and old patterns, along with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions, couples or family counseling, mindfulness meditation classes, as well as a holistic approach to understanding the biological underpinnings of psychiatric and medical comorbidity.

Psychiatric Assessment

During your initial 90 minutes assessment, our psychiatric providers will spend time to get to know you, understand your current symptoms, review your medication and psychosocial history as well as review your medical history. Based on your needs, we will then order and review labs, and further psychological assessments. If you have been seen by a provider outside of Rein Center, we will request your chart to review the efficacy of past treatment and ensure your further progress.

We incorporate Self Decode Assessments to determine genetic loading for psychiatric, neurological, gastro-intestinal, skin, and bone density concerns to develop personalized treatment guidelines including behavioral, cognitive, and nutritional supplements and dietary recommendations for optimal health. We also use Genesight to determine the safest psychotropic options to help us prescribe medication or supplements that are right for you.

We provide 2nd opinions for treatment-resistant issues and take the time to coordinate with other providers to determine the next best steps in treating complicated conditions not only limited to psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, but also weight loss, sexual dysfunction, PMS/menopause, substance abuse, and other age-related disorders.

What should I expect during integrative psychotherapy?

The first step of receiving mental health treatment at Rein Center is to undergo a comprehensive mental health exam. Your provider reviews your symptoms, medical history, mood, thoughts, emotions, behavior patterns, and more. They ask about your desired results, interpersonal relationships, and lifestyle before tailoring an effective treatment plan.

Your personalized mental health treatment plan may include:

  • Medication management
  • Individualized, couples, family, or group counseling
  • Mindfulness training
  • Wellness programs
  • Yoga
  • Stress-relief programs
  • Meditation
  • Massage therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Ketamine treatment

Your provider incorporates healthy lifestyle habits with effective psychotherapy techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and medicine as needed to improve your mood, mental health, and overall quality of life.

How often should I meet with my mental health specialist?

For the best results, see your mental health provider for integrative psychotherapy once weekly, more often if necessary, or on an as-needed basis. They offer recommendations regarding how often to meet for psychotherapy sessions. Call the Rein Center office any time you have concerns about your well-being or questions about your treatment plan.
